OVERVIEW
Opened in 1903 as a 36-bed hospital, Winchester Medical Center has grown into a 411-bed non-profit regional referral center offering a full range of medical, surgical, diagnostic and rehabilitative services to some 400,000 residents in the tri-state area.
Winchester Medical Center employs more than 2,900 people and has a medical staff of over 275 physicians, representing nearly every specialty. The Medical Center’s six-story facility, completed in 1990, anchors a 165-acre medical campus, which includes two physician office buildings, cancer center, pharmacy, outpatient diagnostic center, same-day surgery facility, imaging center with MRI, CT and Mobile PET scanning, adult psychiatric center, 250-seat conference facility, employee child care center, restaurant, parks with walking trails, and a 1,600 space parking deck.
Valley Health is a not-for-profit organization serving the healthcare needs of people in and around an area known as the Top of Virginia, as well as parts of West Virginia and Maryland.
Valley Health was incorporated November 4, 1993 when Winchester Medical Center (WMC) and Warren Memorial Hospital (WMH), in Front Royal, partnered to serve the region. Headquartered in Winchester, Virginia, Valley Health now operates six hospitals: WMC, WMH, Shenandoah Memorial Hospital (SMH) in Woodstock, VA, Hampshire Memorial Hospital (HMH) in Romney, WV, and War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs, WV.
Valley Health has a combined 551 licensed inpatient beds and 150 long-term care beds. The system is supported by over 4,500 employees, and a medical staff of nearly 500.
