VDBA’S JOB INVESTMENT PROGRAM

OVERVIEW

The program is designed to help expanding or relocating companies reduce their up-front human resource development costs. The mission of the program is to train Virginians for specific employment opportunities. Over the past 5 years, the Workforce Services Virginia Jobs Investment Program assisted 2,534 companies with their recruitment and training efforts and has supported the recruitment and training of 70,543 Virginians.

SERVICES

The program includes classroom and on-site instruction, consulting services, and video production services. A project manager is appointed to work with the company to develop a recruiting and training program customized to meet start-up and expansion needs. Some of the products offered through these programs include: training analysis, recruitment assistance, train-the-trainer program, specific ‘hands-on’ training, continuous improvement development, electronic media services, funding for local recruiting, instructor travel, pre-employment instructor costs, instructional materials, and other training costs.

PROGRAM RECOGNITION

As a result of its flexibility and ease of use, the program was ranked in 2010 as the 5th best workforce training program in the nation by Expansion Management magazine.

100% of clients utilizing this program say they would recommend it to other businesses.

LFCC’S DIVISION OF WORKFORCE SERVICES

OVERVIEW

The Division is located at Lord Fairfax Community College and is dedicated to the adult workforce to assure its competitive capabilities for existing industry.

SERVICES

The Division offers classes which can be customized to meet special workforce training needs for a specific industry. So that, while the Workforce Services program mentioned above is an excellent tool for start-up or expansion needs, the Division of Workforce Services is an on-going partner for training and retraining.

CURRENTLY ESTABLISHED COURSES (customizable):

  • Technical (multiple skills training)
  • Computer Applications (also through mobile classroom)
  • Leadership (including Zenger-Miller, Change Management, etc.)
  • Specialty (including ISO 9000 and a variety of skills testing)
